Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. designed this nursing home in Brunswick to replace their existing Amenity Manor in Topsham.
The nursing home has 21 skilled beds, and 44 long-term beds and includes a commercial kitchen, laundry facilities, art studio, beauty salon, sun room, resident spa rooms, rehabilitation areas, residential common areas, administrative spaces and outdoor community spaces. Green concepts and energy efficiency were integrated into the project.
Designed with simple New England forms, details and materials, this 38,349 SF building has clean lines and quality craftsmanship of the Shaker style. The interior concept drew from the Shaker philosophy using warm woods and also colors from nature. The deep greens, reds and blues used were representative of the surrounding farmland, fields and rivers in Brunswick. Simplistic curved archways, and subtly patterned carpets add to this homelike setting.
