Gawron Turgeon Architects designed this elderly housing project on Elm Street in Biddeford.
The project began with a feasibility study of two parcels, with this location chosen based on established criteria such as pedestrian and vehicular access, proximity to the City, groundwater management, utilities, and solar orientation. Gawron Turgeon Architects and Deluca-Hoffman worked with the City of Biddeford to allow allow multi-family housing and increased density through a contract zone process.
The 3-story, 23,000 SF building houses 20 one-bedroom apartments of 625-650 SF each. The new home includes a welcoming front porch for residents, community rooms, landscaped grounds and safe, comfortable environment for seniors.
Within days of opening, McArthur home was at full capacity.
